México - Pista de hielo

Mxpistahielo

Even though Mexico is not that cold in winter, this year the city installed an ice track for free skating at the central square (Zócalo). You can see how many people gathers around, because for many is the first time to see something like this. Behind, the flag, some weird construcion and the Metropolitan Cathedral.

luces de navidad

I didn't get any christmas windows, but every year the city gets iluminated by beautiful christmas adornments and lights. This time the subject was mexican traditions (posadas, piñatas, etc.). In this picture, some women and children with baskets full of nochebuenas (christmas eve flowers or ponsettias).

Mexico - Glorieta de Cuauhtémoc

rond-point du Cuauhtemoc

We had 2 emperors but both for a short period and there are no monuments dedicated to them. However, before the spaniard colonization there were many emperors. This is a monument dedicated to Cuauhtémoc, the last aztec emperor who was tortured by the spaniards by burning his feet so he would tell where the treasure was. They were looking for gold, he was defending cacao.
